How to Succeed in CSC 472

• Start labs early. Exploits fail in subtle ways; you need time to debug, not just to write.
• Master the tools. Every hour spent learning GDB / pwndbg and pwntools pays back many times over.
• Read the memory. When stuck, inspect registers and the stack rather than guessing. Evidence over assumptions.
• Understand, do not copy. Pasting an exploit teaches nothing; the exam and later labs assume you know why it works.
• Ask early. Office hours and the course forum exist to unblock you.
